Now in real life, she takes the Dearman kids on board her spaceship, the Hero, to help her catch a kidnapper and thief, Mrs. Scales, who carries a mysterious fiery handbag. To survive the night, the Dearman kids will have to solve a mystery, escape a space pirate, and learn to get along with each other. The fate of innocent children in danger of a life of slavery depends on them... and Dawn Hyperdrive.

After her first trip to space, Mikayla Dearman is obsessed with the idea of returning there again, an obsession that takes her wandering in the woods at night. Newly returned from the Universe Protection Agency Academy aboard the Hero, Kevin and his sister Jenna find out that Mikayla has been wandering near a giant footprint. When Mikayla goes missing, Jenna and Kevin both set out to look for her... Jenna with her new best friend Bianca on Rexette and Kevin on Bortron where shady intergalactic bankers wearing golden cufflinks need Dawn Hyperdrive's help to secure their treasure.

THE TERRESTRIAL WATCHES OF TERROR
Jenna Dearman goes with her father Paul to work at his new job as a security guard for creepy televangelist Chuff Jumbley, who wears a strange watch just like the ones each of his business associates wears. When Jumbley coerces Paul and Jenna to take part in a fraudulent scheme, Kevin and Mikayla barely escape. Kevin goes back to the Hero, where Dawn Hyperdrive is meeting with secret agents to combat the slave trade. Fairy godmother Lilly takes Mikayla and her mother Erin to Rexette, which is being destroyed by civil war. But Kevin is kidnapped off the street, and Mikayla is chased by royal guards on dragons.

THE OPAL TIARA OF EVIL
Kevin and the rest of the academy students from the Hero are touring the prison orbiting Regulus Rex when they're locked in a cell. Then, strange things happen aboard the Hero when Admiral Yu starts acting unlike himself. Meanwhile on Rexette, Jenna has to help Bianca make sense of her new powers, while Lilly suspects that Mikayla's new friend may put her in danger. Each of the Dearman kids uncovers a piece of the mystery surrounding the slave trade Chuff Jumbley was running... a piece that has something to do with the powerful opal tiara last worn by the imposter goblin queen Mab.
